Day of remembrance honors 137 fallen EOD technicians while bringing a generation of service together 25 years after 9/11.

FORT WALTON BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Twenty-five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the EOD Warrior Foundation is inviting the public to join the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community for a powerful day of remembrance, reflection, and fellowship on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
For many Americans, September 11 changed the course of history. For the EOD Community, it marked the beginning of more than two decades of continuous service, sacrifice, and resilience. In the years that followed, hundreds of EOD Technicians deployed in support of the Global War on Terror, answering the nation's call to confront some of the world's most dangerous threats. Tragically, 137 EOD technicians made the ultimate sacrifice.

To honor their legacy and recognize all who served, the EOD Warrior Foundation will host two signature events designed to bring the community together while preserving the stories of a generation shaped by service.
The day begins with One Last Sweat for the 137, a memorial workout held at the EOD Training Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The workout honors the 137 EOD Technicians who gave their lives during GWOT and offers participants an opportunity to stand together in remembrance, reflect on the sacrifices of those who never came home, and honor their enduring legacy.

That evening, the Foundation will host Strength in Every Long Walk, a dinner and panel discussion at The Island Resort in Fort Walton Beach. The program will feature EOD Technicians and respected members of the EOD Community who served throughout the Global War on Terror. Through personal stories and candid conversations, panelists will reflect on the lasting impact of September 11, the challenges of military service, the resilience of the EOD community, and the lifelong bonds forged through shared experiences.
"The 25th anniversary of 9/11 isn't only about looking back—it's about honoring the men and women whose lives were forever changed because of that day," said Leah Munroe, Community Engagement Coordinator for the EOD Warrior Foundation. "We remember the 137 EOD Technicians we lost, honor everyone who answered our nation's call to serve, and ensure that future generations understand the sacrifices that shaped our community. We hope people will join us as we remember, reflect, and stand together."

While the day's events commemorate the past, they also reinforce the EOD Warrior Foundation's ongoing commitment to those who continue to serve and those who have transitioned from military service. Through financial assistance, scholarships, family programs, mental health resources, career transition support, and emergency assistance, the Foundation provides lifelong support to EOD Warriors and their families.
The EOD Warrior Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the sponsors whose support helps make this commemorative event possible: Wounded Warrior Project, ADS, Inc., Med-Eng, Our C4 Solutions, Forever Warriors - Powered by Step One Automotive Group, and Youth Service America. Their partnership helps bring the EOD Community together to remember the fallen, honor those who served, and support EOD Warriors and their families.

Community members are invited to participate in one or both events. For those who cannot attend, the EOD Warrior Foundation welcomes donations in honor of the 137 and in support of EOD Warriors and their families. Every tax-deductible contribution helps provide programs and services that strengthen the health, wellbeing, and future of the EOD Community.

Registration and event details are available at www.eod-wf.org. Those unable to attend can also make a donation at www.eod-wf.org to help support EOD Warriors and their families.
